Brian Farber, President & Founder

Monument Square Strategies is a boutique strategic communications, public engagement, and public affairs firm led by Brian Farber, a 20-year campaign-minded strategist whose extensive career spans the public and private sectors.

Many communications professionals are public relations specialists. However, with his rich understanding of the broader landscape—media relations, public affairs, policy communications, public engagement, and government advocacy—connecting the dots for maximum benefit comes naturally to Brian—and delivers improved outcomes.

Brian served in senior communications and government affairs roles as a political appointee at the U.S. Department of Transportation during the Obama Administration and senior communications and policy positions in the U.S. Congress, specifically for Representative Joe Courtney (CT-02) and former Representative Tim Bishop (NY-01). In the private sector, Farber crafted winning global communications strategies for the largest business unit—architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC)—of a multinational, publicly traded technology company. As head of communications and government relations for a battery charging technology startup, Brian quickly positioned the company for millions in federal grant funding and local tax benefits.

Brian is recognized for his creative problem-solving and customer-centric storytelling.

A marketing leader and former colleague noted, “Without a doubt, [Brian’s] value goes well beyond traditional PR measures—he challenges and empowers everyone he works with to rise above telling ‘good enough’ stories, to find the gold nuggets that help drive real business results.” Another colleague shared, “It is very hard to teach what Brian knows. I wish Autodesk could package his approach so others could benefit.”

In a farewell from Politico when Brian announced his departure from the Obama Administration, the publication recognized Brian as “DOT’s communications guru” and called Brian a “rarity in Washington” because he was “always quick to respond to MT’s calls or emails no matter the topic.”

Brian lives in Concord, Massachusetts, the home of Monument Square Strategies, with his wife, two children, and their dog Daisy.
